Teeny Tiny #8!

Sorry to post this everywhere, but my work for Teeny Tiny #8 is now available online. And the show's opening reception is Friday, so if you're near Portsmouth, check it out if you can! These are always my favorite shows of the year, and so many great artists are involved. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll be able to make it in time for the opening myself.

THE NEWS

I am excited to finally announce that I am going to be in the next Curvy book!

It's funny, I've been so anxious to share this news with you and now I'm finding myself struggling for words! It's an honor to be chosen for this edition (#7!), and I can barely believe that one of my pieces is going to be shown alongside so many other talented ladies from all over the world.

If you haven't heard of Curvy and have no idea what I'm talking about, you can go take a peek at their website here or even go like them on Facebook to keep up with the news. The book won't be released until November, but it will be well worth the wait!

Good news and bad news.

The good news is, the first journal is now in my Etsy shop (edit: nevermind, it sold.. thank you<3). The bad news is, I have discovered that doing these really isn't worth the time that it takes. I can't justify charging very much for a journal -- it's not something that you're likely to keep forever, like a print or original that would be safely framed and hung on a wall.

So I'm going to finish the last five journals that I have left, put them up in my shop as they get done, and that's it. I have two more small Moleskine cahiers, which I'll be doing first, and then 3 larger ones.

In case you're curious, the other small journals will have a moth and a bird on them, and I'm not sure what I'm doing with the larger ones yet (and I might wait a while to even start them). And hopefully I'll learn how to screen print someday and I can start making journal covers that way, but for now, these are the last of the hand-drawn ones.

Shop update.

If the above mini-gallery isn't working, click here to go to my Etsy shop. These are all leftovers from this year's shows, including the original drawing that was part of I Want Your Skull #7.

In other news, I'm launching alittlenoise.org tomorrow (not to be confused with cassy.alittlenoise.org, which will remain my portfolio site).

"New" site & IWYS #7!

My site is back! And with a small makeover.

And..

At long last, I Want Your Skull #7 is released! This one features a killer wrap-around cover by Brian Morris (ooo000ooo.com) and includes a fantastic new, serigraph art print by Drew Millward (drewmillward.com).

And it wouldn’t be I Want Your Skull if we didn’t talk to a few of the creators impacting the world of skeleture expression. This time around it’s cranial designer Dan Springer (skulluxe.blogspot.com) and screen-printed poster pioneer and old school ripper, Lindsey Kuhn (swampco.com).

As a special treat, we’ve included a reprinted interview with the legendary original guitarist of the Misfits- Franche’ Coma, featuring brand new illustrations by Mark McCormick (markmccormickart.com).

If that wasn’t enough, 34 full page artist pages grace the inside pages. It’s a whose who if super talented creators working in a variety of styles from all over the world, and all dedicated to the SKULL! Included: Cassandra Warren, Glyn Smyth, Shawn Hebrank, Geordan Moore, Rhys Cooper, Tallboy, Ashley McMullen, Albie Rock, Peter Nevins, Jason Goad, Brian Ewing, Budai, Murdoch Stafford, Jeral Tidwell, Franx, Ryan August, Dzgnbio, Horrorwood, Konnik, Jazun, Anville, Droid, Mike Sutfin, Jon MDC, Gregg Gordon, Sean Tidy, James Flames, Kenn TwoFour, Jess Guercia, Jeremi Rimel, Mike Fisher, Surge, Mictron and Joe Bonham.

The whole thing comes packed in a custom printed envelope with a logo designed by lettering genius, Henry “Loco” Contreras.

Limited to 250 copies, hand-numbered and packaged with care.

I Want Your Skull #6

But I'm not going to show you my drawing. I'll only tell you that I've shown it around the internet recently and it's not a human skull. Okay.. I'll probably show you a pic when I get my copy. Anyway, info time! (The rest of this is written by the amazing Ryan August, who puts this project together.):

64 pages. Offset printed with full color covers.

I tried something a little bit different this time and just filled the book up with amazing art. No interviews this time around. With the economy in shambles, I wanted to try and put out something a little more affordable for everyone, so we kept all the elaborate packaging and extras to a minimum for this issue.

Just $12ppd in the US. $18ppd anywhere outside the US.

Goodbye, March (among other things).

I've decided that an important part of this process (read: an essential way to maintain my sanity) is to do a bit of spring cleaning and rid my life of some unnecessary negativities. Much of this is simply in the way I view myself and my art - I like myself, I have a pretty healthy ego at this point in my life, but I need to stop doubting myself so much, because that is only going to be detrimental in the long run. Unfortunately, this negativity cleansing also means figuring out which existing elements are helping and which are making things worse. And the only reason I began that sentence with "unfortunately," is because some of these elements are people. This should be an obvious in anyone's life, but I don't want to interact with anyone or anything that constantly and consistently makes me feel bad about myself. And please, don't let your panties get twisted up here, I'm not referring to anyone that reads this silly thing.

Anyway, I'm still drawing roses. I don't know what the crap this one is, I was just messing around.

Another rose? I don't know.

In more exciting news, my new buttons & pocket mirrors arrived in my mailbox today (thank you!), and will be stocked in my Etsy shop later this week. I have 15 mirrors and 50 buttons, since the other half of everything went to ellO this afternoon. I dropped off my BaileyWorks bag too, which is finally finished - there will be pictures of that after the show Friday.

In other news, my friend Alex let me borrow one of his guitars today, and this makes me a very happy lady (I miss playing a lot). We are going to try to do some sort of musical project. You know, with all of that free time that I don't have.

P.S.!

Merch post.

I've been doing a few things exclusively for The Wistful Republic. (Note: I will never ever be stocking these in my own shop, so if you want them, you'll have to snag them there!) Here are the first things:

Get them here (along with a couple of older designs!).
