Relief.

Whenever I say I'm going to make a post "later," you should read that as "I intend to do it later but I'm probably going to get distracted and entirely forget." The real problem was, I didn't scan the finished piece until tonight. Here we go!

Relief.

This will be at Teeny Tiny #8 in February at Three Graces. Which is a lovely little gallery in Portsmouth, NH. If you're in the area and haven't been yet, I highly recommend it!

Oh yeah, title here.

I'm doing a terrible job of keeping my blogs updated these days. Here is a sketch that will be a finished piece within a week or so.

Rough.

unfinished

This will hopefully be at least mildly awesome by the time it's finished.

P.S., I have a show at ellO next month, so expect lots of new things in the next three weeks.

Life is so much better when you're around.

Today Leah took pictures of me working. My room is a mess and I'm wearing an ugly sweater. SORRY FOR OFFENDING YOUR EYES. And yes, I have a couch, desk, and bed in my room, but I prefer to work on the floor. Don't judge me, haha(?).

I'm tired and wish I was spooning.

More progress.

I severely underestimated how much time this would take. These pics are kind of bad.

This part is done now:

.....

And this is where I am as of this post:

...

Back to work now.

Hi, I'm still bad at posting.

I really need to scan some things. But for now, here's another random photo post.

The Bailey bag is coming along very slowly. Very. Slowly. Here's one of the sides.
Bailey bag side progress

These will be on the front of the bag. I'll be cutting them into stencils, tracing them onto the bag, and then hopefully not screwing up when I paint them. They'll be yellow warblers.
sketches

Last but not least, here are my bbz, Clementine and Alfred T. Waffles. They were a birthday present from my Leah.

Hey, remember when I used to post here? I kind of hate the internet lately.

Here's an outline of a fun commission. I don't really want the world to see the cuter things that I've been doing lately.

dear art: ilu

I'm having sleeping issues again, so tonight I decided to sketch out a couple of ideas for the death & destruction show. My brain has been on overdrive lately so I'm afraid of losing concepts before I get them down.

snowbird sketch

deer sketch
^This one makes me nervous because I'm not very good at drawing deer.. or mammals in general. But I think this might turn out okay.

These will both be going on old book pages, but the deer execution (no pun intended) is going to be difficult. You'll see what I mean when I show you later.

In progress.

"In which we begin to unfold"

This will be part of the death & destruction themed show at ellO in January. It's only about half finished here, and is still clearly missing.. well, the death and destruction part.

Everything is changing. It's odd to not share it, but I guess that's part of the change too. I'm tired of everything being a memory. Even this stupid tree was just a tree until it reminded me of the last piece that I did that was white branches on brown paper, where I was and what I was doing and the exhaustion and happiness in being awake until dawn that day.

In writing this post, I got to witness the not-so-magical magic of daylight savings giving me an extra hour of time. In a week I'll be in a new bedroom/workspace. Neat.

I don't have a title[...]

I haven't been drawing much still. And what I have been doing, with the exception of the sketch on the left here, I can't show you because they're commissions for other people (except everything on the right here is a little peek). But I'm hoping I'll be able to motivate myself and set aside a little time to do a finished (read: not crappy) version of this sketch.. ignore all of the random things at the bottom, those are just doodles.

And my copy of I Want Your Skull came in the mail today..

Sorry if you're sick of seeing this unicorn everywhere, I just happen to, you know, not hate it.

Crappity crap.

So here is a picture of what is maybe 2/3rds of the work for the Philly show. I think I have more than I thought! A couple of things are still at ellO, and I have a few things buried in my mess of a bedroom, and.. *gasp*.. two things aren't finished yet. Okay maybe three. And as you can see, things aren't framed, stuff in sleeves is crooked.. yeah at this point it's all just a big mess that I have to go through and organize before I mail it all off. Make sure everything is titled/signed/dated/etc.. oh, and priced. I haven't done all of that yet either.

This is definitely the last stretch. It has to be mailed by Wednesday AT THE LATEST.

Crap oh crap.

O hai.

I found camera batteries and decided it would be a good(?!) idea to take pictures of myself drawing. Since pictures of me are rarely taken and not many exist in the world. Yes, I am in my underwear, I'M SORRY, this just happens to be how I hang out at my house (probably more than I should). But seriously, who likes pants in the summertime? NOT THIS GIRL.

Hi, I draw in my underwear.

Then I thought HEY I CAN TAKE PICTURES OF MY BIG PROJECTS NOW!, you know, the ones that won't fit in my scanner. My camera is sort of devilish and must have read my mind, because my batteries decided to die a moment later. This is about 1/3rd of a piece that I'm working on:

Beginnings of a piece.

A couple more ridiculous photos here.

In progress post.

In between my "serious" projects, I've been using my art journal a lot. It's nice. Less detailed and restricting.

These are obviously very unfinished. Just outlines. I like showing you the process sometimes.

This is for the Seacoast Redefined show. It's probably more symbolic than I'd like to admit.

I'm turning the bad into something good. Or trying, anyway.

Two big deadlines in a little less than nine weeks. You're going to be seeing a lot of posts from me between now and then, I think. It's crunch time.

P.S., I DEMAND THAT YOU LOOK AT THIS POST. Actually, He has been inspiring me a lot lately. I wish I was half as productive/detailed/good with colour as him.

Like advice is just another way of proving yourself right.

I'm also sorry because I've barely posted anything for all of you this month. I've only made two posts and neither were finished products. That's pretty much how my life is right now - a ton of content, but not a whole lot that is completed or being shared with everyone. Take that as you will. Here's another peek at something:

I don't know if any of you are in the Sacramento area, but September 13th I'll have a piece in the 2nd annual Circus Show. I'm told that site will have updates added to it between now and then, so keep checking back. I'll give you information as it trickles in as well.

My site also got a small makeover this week, and so did Giles' site because I'm occasionally a nice person.

My roommate's girlfriend put lilacs all over our house. If she was a guy, she would have instantly gotten in my pants by doing this. Just kidding. Maybe.

Oh hi.

Untitled bird in frame.

These moths are taking SO. LONG.

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Reminder:

I don't know if I'm supposed to show this to you, but I kind of need an excuse to post and I definitely can't show you the narwhal I finished. But yeah, reason for posting: There's only a few days left to sponsor Giles for the Tour de Cure. It's a good cause, you can click that link and get all the info.

As for visual goods..

Unfinished (which is also the title of a great song).

This looks cartoonish right now, it won't by the time I'm done with it.

Here are two videos that I enjoy:

Still in progress/I'm quite tired.

This is a (terrible) scan of what part of my BaileyWorks bag looks like so far. I don't hate it, and even more surprisingly, I haven't messed it up yet (I rarely paint, and to be honest, it doesn't come as naturally to me as drawing). I still have hours of work left on it, and both this and the last of the Re:Format work needs to be done by Monday afternoon.. I don't know if I can do it. I think I might have to drop out of the Re:Format show. I don't want to and I'm going to be disappointed in myself, but I can't miraculously add more hours to the time I have left for all of this.

All of that white stuff on the bottom right is a glare from my scanner. I'll have pictures soon instead.

Unfinished BaileyWorks bag.

To be added: More swirly things, birds, and a drawing on the inside.

Things that I'm working on:

These are all very unfinished and don't look like much right now, but I'm excited about all of them. Me excited about three projects all at the same time! WHAT IS GOING ON??! Anyway..

This is the blueprint that I was/am terrified of ruining. So far, so good. This is only part of it though, it definitely can't fit into my scanner. Actually, nothing in this post fits into my scanner well. The sketch on this is unimpressive thus far, but I hope it will be amazing when it's more filled in. These are mostly just outlines and as you can see, I haven't even erased the pencil lines yet. I'm actually more attached to it than I should be, and already don't want to sell it at the show. =/

This scan is REALLY crappy. And I haven't drawn on this yet. But I'm excited to.
Excited = word of the day.

Hey remember this? I abandoned it for a couple of months there, but now I'm finally on my way to finishing it. This is another one I'm attached to.
